In video game's early days, the law was struggling to figure out how exactly to regard video games. Were they toys? Audio-visual Media? Computer Code? Art? Lawsuits were flying left and right, but unfortunately, there was almost no legal precedent to refer to in settling disputes.

What did you find out Jeremiah? Why is ON Networks holding your work hostage?
I found out that the episode just kinda slipped through the cracks apparantly and has been sitting around at their offices for the last two weeks. I called them on monday to ask; they called me today and said they would put it up today. Hasn't come on yet, so I'm thinking tomorrow. If I don't see it tomorrow, I'll call again and see what's up.
They posted an "extended cut" of the "gaming and copyright" episode today. I thought the new episode was supposed to be about modding?
No, that's the new episode. I just checked it. They just mis-labeled and mis-titled everything for some reason. Sigh.
They fixed it. Simple communication error. Hapens.
great show plain and simple and should never be removed. There are so many aspects to the gaming world to consider that there is enough material to continue this show for a long time. I do like that the show is concise and basically summarizes whatever the theme is. I'm also very pleased that Xbox Live is supporting this show. Hopefully that means that it will be on for a good long time now.
Lol, we did a show about ripoffs in gaming for Xleague, and found some utterly horrific clones that went under the eyes of publishers just because they weren't American.
The Karate Champ one is a prime example, World Karate Champ had been out in the UK for years under the name International Karate, and noone batted an eyelid.

JetPilot, I agree. I'm tired of promises and no thing happening. I'm sick of checking for a new episode daily because I hear "It's coming soon" and it never ends up being anywhere near soon. At this point I don't know if it is ON Networks or Jeremiah that is feeding us a line of BS. Once the new episode finally comes out (Easter?) I will be deleting my bookmark to this site and forgetting about it.
Hey guys, I know that alot of you are upset the new ep is not out and that it has taken so long. This show is free and Jeremiah takes the time to come talk to us, i cannot remember any other time were the director has come to talk to the fans. Any ways all I am saying is enjoy the show and dont wish for it to be gone just because of the problems of late, this show is amazing.

We may not pay for the show with money, but we certainly are allowing ON Networks earn money by watching it. They make money from ad revenue, not subscription fees (just like broadcast television...wouldn't you be pissed if ABC/NBC/CBS/FOX decided to not run your favorite show one night "just because?"). If we didn't watch their programming they wouldn't be able to sell ad space on their site.
See that "Presented by Xbox 360" at the top of the page? Microsoft paid for that spot because they know you and I (and thousands of people like us) will see that ad. ON Networks can sell ad space on their site because (and only because) we watch their shows.
So yes, we don't pay a fee to watch the show. However ON Networks is most certainly making money from our viewership.
Don't know what the deal is. The episode was turned in 12 days ago. I'll be calling on Monday to ask what the holdup is.

Where the hell is this new episode. It's been a week a and a half since it was submitted. As much as I love this show, I'm somewhat glad this is the last episode so we don't have to deal with the ON Networks BS anymore.

Yeah if they end the show or Jeremiah Black does not get renewed and the replacment is not good and ruins the show we would all start leaving
It likely that if they don't renew Jeremiah's contract there will be no more Play Value.

I'd just like to ask a few questions:
1. What will the topic of this mythical 22-minute video be about? It might be a little hard to use just one topic, unless it's super broad.
2. Will there ever be a video on machinima, or were you just being nice when you said it was an idea you'd use?
3. Did anyone else notice that the person who wanted Dan off was not only wrong when she siad he had to go, but also sounded and typed like a 13-year-old? (i.e. like, totally, bleh, etc.)
1. Broadly speaking, the episode will be about game modding history. But it tells a really great story about a couple guys that not a lot of people know about. But the episode might only be 18 minutes, since there are a couple additional interviews I want to put in that I'm STILL waiting to come in. Might just go ahead and publish it anyway next week. Getting tired of waiting for those additional interviews to come in.
2. I want to do a machinima video! But after this last episode, my contract is up and it's up to OnNetworks to hire me to make more shows. Balls in their court.
3. Yeah, Dan's pretty popular and a gaming exprt. He probably gets more emails than anyone else on the show. Oh yeah, and he's also a good buddy.
1: Hey...you snooze you lose. If those interviewees wanted to be included in this popular show they should've sent their stuff in by now. To heck with them. If they won't send their material in on time then they don't deserve to be featured in your show.
2: How can WE help convince On Networks to renew your contract (other than continuing to spread the word about this show, that is)?
1. Ha ha, yeah, that's kinda how I been feeling. Tired of waiting. So, I think I'm just gonna turn in the episode on Monday/Tuesday, and ON will publish it online shortly thereafter.
2. ON's working some sponsorship deals behind the scenes that will determine the future of the show. Even though I make all the shows, there's nothing I can really do at this point. Probably the best thing both me and the audience can do is just spread the word on the show. Obviously, the higher the viewer numbers go up, the better ON's negotiations will go in the show's favor. And then we can all get the new episodes all of us want. I know there's still a LOT of important history to cover.
Any idea when we can expect this "grand finale" for season 2 of Play Value?
Soon, I think. I turned it in yesterday. So I'd imagine ON will publish it any day now.

No, they haven't. So, as of today, the show's on hold until they work it out on their end. They'll just be that one last episode going up any day now. Sooooo, I guess we'll all see what happens going forward. Thanks for being a great supporter of the show, man. I appreciate it.
We appreciate the quality show. Too bad they hosing you on the renewal (and in turn, hosing all of the viewers of the show).
Well, they've got to make money, too. I guess this all comes down to a numbers game in the end, just like all entertainment. If Play Value can pull in the needed sponsorship based on its popularity, then we'll all get what we want. If it doesn't make financial sense for ON to keep it going, then they can't keep it going. Nobody wants to see it go, but the numbers have to add up. We'll probably all know in the next month or so. But I don't really have any more info than you do on this. So, I'd just direct all inquiries to ON's mailbox.
you know if they don't renew your contract then we would get some one who might not be so kind and get to to talk to the fans so much and they might ruin the show
